Prince William & Kate Middleton Announce Engagement!♥

Kate and William announce their engagement!♥

Today the most anticipated engagement of the decade had finally been confirmed - Prince William is to marry Kate Middleton next year!

The Prince revealed he gave his long-term girlfriend the distinctive blue sapphire ring that once belonged to his mother, Diana - Princess of Wales.

In an exclusive interview this evening with his fiance beside him, he declared to journalists he chose his Diana's engagement ring as wanted to make sure his mother "didn't miss out on the excitement".

Prince William has given Kate Middleton his late mother's engagement ring

Kate told reporters that joining the Royal Family was a "daunting prospect". But she added: "Hopefully I'll take it in my stride."  Prince William said, "The timing is right now, we are both very, very happy."

Clarence House issued a statement today:

"The wedding will take place in the spring or summer of 2011, in London. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

Prince William and Miss Middleton became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya.

Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton's father.

Following the marriage, the couple will live in North Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force."

The happy couple laughed and joked through their first public interview

Princess Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 so unfortunately I missed out on that one :-( but this time I will get to see a Royal wedding how exciting!

Hummingbird Cupcakes - Fabulous!

Hummingbird Bakery do THE best cupcakes!♥

If you're looking for the best cupcakes in London then look no further than Hummingbird Bakery in South Kensington -truly divine!

On Monday I set myself a challenge – find a shop that can deliver 6 yummy cupcakes, made to order, in three days for my boyfriend’s birthday. Hopeful? Optimistic? Or a case of mission impossible?

Well what started out as a great idea almost turned into a nightmare! If you Google “cupcake shops in London” you get thousands of results. I chose ten of the most popular bakeries as listed by Google, reviewed by food journalists and recommended by my friends. Yet despite this, the majority of them couldn’t guarantee the cakes would be finished and delivered by Wednesday, unless at a (high) cost. One bakery which shall remain nameless listed delivery costs ranging from £40 bargain(!) I’m talking about six cupcakes here, hardly an eight tier wedding cake.

Nevertheless, my quest for the cupcakes continued. I stumbled across Hummingbird Bakery in South Kensington. As it’s based only ten minutes from my office I popped in expecting the worst.

Hummingbird Bakery store, South Kensington

The shop is small but has seating for customers to buy and try the cupcakes and cakes on offer. I was warmly greeted by the Hummingbird staff – who may I add were all dressed in the cutest hot pink sweaters with “Hummingbird” written across them!

A member of staff reassured me they can get my cupcakes made to collect as soon as possible. Result!

Inside Hummingbird Bakery

I had a clear idea of what I wanted - a personalised message on four cakes and a selection of their best cupcakes – red velvet, vanilla and chocolate and vanilla. Yes, I truly was the most fussy customer ever! Yet they patiently listened to my order and even offered me a drink as I explained exactly what I wanted.

So, my order was taken and the very next day I collected the cakes from the store. Simple, stress free and most importantly good service! Is that really too much to ask for nowadays? It seems...

Selection of cakes on offer...yum!♥

But most importantly - the cupcakes? Well, my boyfriend was most pleased with them and of course, I had to try the product beforehand to see what all the fuss was about. *wink wink* A delicious fluffy sponge and the icing, which I am not usually a fan of, tasted luscious not too sweet and not overloaded either.

Gift Box and cakecups!

I would definitely recommend the Hummingbird Bakery which you can either order online 24/7 or visit their stores (South Kensington, Wardour Street and Portabello Road). Great cakes and great service– what more could you ask for?!

Nail Review Missguided.co.uk Splash Nude Polish

Autumn/Winter season Is here upon us and although fingers are mostly hidden in gloves & coat pockets, there is still reason to paint those nails!

I am always looking for new polishes to try and to my delight, Missguided have a brand new range of 6 nail polishes including a gorgeous nude polish called "Miscellaneous".

 "Miscellaneous"
I love neutral polishes, the nude colour  is well suited to the Autumn season.  The packaging of the product its very cute and like the gold italics against the black background.

The consistency is very nice and polish glided on very smoothly.  My usual technique is to firstly apply a thin layer then a second. It dried very well and though I was expecting it to smudge, it didn't!

I do love how sophisticated the nude nail polish looks and can go with almost anything.  Unlike some nail polishes which don't always turn out like you had hoped (either too dark or too light).

Missguided nude nail polish is definitely nude and exactly the colour it is in the bottle! Fabulous!

(Also available in 5 other colours my favourites include Missbehave in cotton candy and Missunderstood classic deep red)

Available in six colours!
