Ella's Bakehouse Review

 Lorraine Pascale - patisserie chef

I have heard so much about Lorraine Pascale, the former supermodel turned cupcake queen, when I passed her store, Ella's Bakehouse, I had to pop in and taste the most talked about cupcakes in town!

 Ella's Bakehouse, Covent Garden

Ella's Bakehouse is located on the corner of Covent Garden's busy Piazza town square. There were so many cupcakes to choose from so I was spoilt for choice! In the end, I chose red velvet (chocolate sponge with red colouring and a cream cheese frosting) and brown bottom (chocolate sponge and vanilla butter cream).

Red velvet (l) brown bottom (r)

So what makes Lorraine's cupcakes so special?  Used from mainly British ingredients, the sponge is light, slightly moist and fluffy made with light vanilla sugar syrup. Absolutely delicious!!!

You can buy Lorraine's best selling cook book, Baking Made Easy, here.

Outfit of the day - accessories!

If you're looking for shades with a little glitz and glamour then buy these studded flat top sunglasses from Topshop.

The pearl earrings are from an assortment of cute studs from New Look.

I ♥ Peter Pan Collar Dresses!

Michelle Williams in Prada Peter Pan collar dress

The peter pan collars have been seen on Louis Vuitton and Marni catwalks this season so it wasn't going to take long before this trend headed to the high street.

I love the 60s inspired trend that makes the usual stiff collars look cute and feminine.

 Alexa Chung

 Emma Watson

 Fearne Cotton

I loved the long sleeved Prada Peter Pan collar dress Michelle Williams did a photoshoot in.

But if you can't afford the designer version, then head to the high street which offers lots of similar versions (Fearne dress is from her collection, Very).

I bought my leopard print collar dress from New Look which stocks lots of different colours from gorgeous peach to electric blue.

So what are you waiting for? Pop your collar and get one of these cute dresses!

Amy Winehouse dead

 Amy Winehouse 14.09.1983- 23.07.2011

British soul singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home on Saturday 23 July 2011.

 Amy and her dad, Mitch

The 27 year old Brit and Grammy award winner 's death is still "unexplained" a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The singer is likely to be remembered for her gifted talent - her amazing soulful voice, but unfortunately, also for her rock and roll lifestyle, drink and drug addiction and numerous times spent in and out of rehab.

Amy was booed off stage in her last performance

Amy joins many of her heroes, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Reading, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison who all died at the age of 27.
Rest in peace Amy Winehouse

Outfit of the Day

 Blazer - Primark
Sweater - George at Asda
Culottes/shorts - Own the Runway
Shoes - Topshop
Bag - New Look

Rain, rain go away! It seems the UK Summer is over before it even started - so I'm back to black, blazers and worst of all tights *sniffles*.

I have maxi dresses and jumpsuits just CRYING out from my wardrobe to be worn..looks like the only chance I'll get to wear those beauties is when I'm on holiday in the South of France in August.

Until then, it's shorts, but with tights and my plimsoles I love these and am guaranteed to keep wearing them..at least until it starts snowing!

Nail Varnish Review - Missguided MissTaken Orange

Misstaken Orange Nail Splash

I bought the latest Cosmopolitan magazine, featuring the beautiful Rihanna on the front cover, and has a free Missguided splash nail polish.

 I love this colour!

I chose the Misstaken orange nail varnish, as orange is the hottest colour to be seen in this Spring/Summer and has been spotted everywhere from catwalk runways to street fashionistas.

 Orange in vogue

It is an intense shade but that is what I love the most. The bright pop of orange wont be “mistaken” for any other colour!

Solange new face of Rimmel London!

Solange Knowles in Rimmel new ad

Solange Knowles, has signed on as the new face of Rimmel London cosmetics.

The multi-talented singer-songwriter, producer, actress, entrepreneur and DJ, will represent Rimmel makeup looks for their Autumn campaign.

Solange in new campaign ad for Rimmel London

Solange looks absolutely flawless in the Rimmel ads! I’m really pleased with Rimmel’s decision to choose Solange to represent their brand. Not only is she an incredibly talented woman (who also happens to be the younger sister of Beyonce) but she is also beautiful and has her own unique style! See my last blog post on her.

Solange Knowles said: “I have always been passionate about make-up because it allows me to express my personality and style.  I’m very excited about representing Rimmel because it’s such a young, vibrant, on-trend brand.”

Rimmel, originally founded by Eugene Rimmel in London’s Regent Street, is a brand that represents London’s unique, edgy beauty and fashion style.

Solange at Net-a-Porter D&G party this week in London

Solange is obviously a fan of London when asked what she thinks about the city she said; “London is one of the most inspiring places in the world...A beautiful melting pot of cultures, styles, and backgrounds. I always feel alive in London, there's always an adventure in London and some of the most unique and exciting people you will meet!”

Argan Oil Hair Product Review

Argan Oil hair treatment - tried & tested!

Argan Oil is said to be one of the best leave in oils on the market for dry and damaged hair so I was more than key to try it out!

One of the world's rarest oils, argan oil, is derived from the Moroccan Argan Tree. Rich in essential fatty acids, Omega 6 and Vitamin E, it is valued for its ability to regenerate and nourish dry and damaged hair.

Argan Oil can be used to enhance the look, feel, condition and style of all hair types. I was relieved to find out that this includes Afro hair like mine as I do a lot of heat styling, blow drying and of course add a chemical relaxer to my hair every 6-8 weeks to get it straightened.

After I washed and conditioned my hair, I added the serum, a very mild vanilla-esk fragrance to it, and a consistency similar to other hair serums on the market.

There was very little breakage when I towel-dried it and when I used my hair straighteners and they glided smoothly over my hair too making my hair look and feel soft.

I’ve only been using it for a few weeks so it’s still too soon to make a verdict. Initially I had my doubts about using this hair treatment on Afro hair but after reading up about the benefits of Argan oil for ALL hair types, I would recommend it.  It’s a really good natural alternative to other high street serums and will continue to use the treatment with the hope that my hair will remain healthy, voluminous and shiny...let's hope so!

Prince at the Hop Farm Festival 2011

Prince at the Hop Farm Festival

I saw Prince perform at the Hop Farm Festival in Kent last night and what a show it was!

To say Prince's performance was extraordinary would be an understatement - it was FANTASTIC! He performed all my favourite Prince songs,  Nothing Compares To You, Little Red Corvette. Kiss, 1999, Kiss and of course the classic, Purple Rain!
Prince on stage with his backing singers and band

Prince definitely brought the glitz and glam to the stage, he wore a white silk suit with plenty of statement jewelery including gold chain necklace and a large silver ring and had backing dancers just as glamorous as he was in sequins, glitter and afros.

I want your guitar Prince!

But best of all was his guitar decorated with leopard print skin and matching leopard print guitar strap - I knew Prince wouldn't let me down when it came to fabulous style on stage. In fact its clear the man hasn't aged a day over 25 as Prince still looked as good as he did 20 years ago, his dancing was just as good too!

I can't believe he is 53, if he is this good now, can you imagine what he was like in his prime?! Well you don't have to, as he announced he would be touring the UK later this year. So don't delay and book those tickets now as this is one show you don't want to miss!

Outfit of the Day

Maxi dress, denim jacket and tassel bag all from - Primark

I love maxi dresses for so many reasons - available in lots of different colours and designs, can be worn casually AND still look gracious and most importantly keep me cool during the hot weather!

This is one of my favourites, a maxi I bought last year. I teamed with a cropped denim jacket and sandals for a shopping trip this afternoon. As soon as I spotted this tassel bag (also from Primark) I had to have it! I love how the tassels blow in the wind! Lol

Kate Middleton Outfits in Royal Visit to Canada

It's the third day of William and Kate's visit to Canada and we're on to Kate's third outfit!

The Duchess of Cambridge has chosen a variety of outfits for their 10 day royal tour - here are a few of my favourites...

I loved the purple Issa Jersey dress Kate wore to Canada Day. The diamond leaf brooch in the form of the national emblem of Canada  was a nice added touch to the outfit.  Apparently the Queen loaned the brooch to Kate for the tour - lucky her!

Kate wore this grey dress by French born designer, Catherine Walker.  The silhouette design is very flattering for Kate and the shoes and matching clutch bag are very cute too. I particularly loved the exposed back of the dress - cood choice Kate!

Abbey Clancy Gets Married!

Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch get married

Kate Moss wasn't the only model who got married - Abbey Clancy, model, tv presenter and WAG married England footballer, Peter Crouch, yesterday afternoon.

The bride who recently gave birth to their first child, wore a beautiful white strapless gown designed by Giles Deacon. I absolutely love this wedding gown.  It is a simple design, with a white lace corset but has the loose tousled waves of the train to finish off the complete look.

I loved the tiered silk skirt- believed to cost £10,000!

Kate Moss Wedding!

 Kate Moss ties the knot!

Supermodel Kate Moss married Jamie Hince this afternoon in the Cotswolds wearing a stunning John Galliano gown.

The model's dress was a cream vintage design with floor length veil. It had beautiful gold leaf embroidery and rhinestone detail.

I loved Kate's detail on her wedding dress - lovely design!

John Galliano did a marvellous job of designing the wedding dress.  It's a very beautiful, elegant dress and flatters the bride modestly. I've seen many media reports and critics were surprised she chose John Galliano to design her gown following the recent scandal whereby he allegedly made anti-Semantic remarks.

 The happy couple...

I knew Kate would pick John Galliano as they have been close friends and he was a firm favourite to be chosen as her designer.

Kate chose Manolo Blahnik for her wedding shoes.  He specially made the shhoes with a blue insole as Kate's "Something blue" and to match her husbands ligh blue Stefano Pilati YSL suit.  Typically he chose to wear sunglasses to give it that "rock star" twist. Perhaps the shades should have been left for afterwards?!

Free Maybelline Shopper Bag!

Maybelline Shopper bag..

I’ve seen them on the shoulder of dozens of celebrities, so it wasn’t going to be long before a beauty brand like Maybelline designed their own.  The shopper bag has been a big hit with celebrities and for so many good reasons.

 Ashley Tisdale

Gwen Stefani with a "Lamb" shopper bag

Rachel Roy (r) and friend

 Michelle Trachtenber

Not only are they extremely useful, perfect for any big long shopping trips, they are ideal as an environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic bags. Look great AND protect the environment all at the same time? A winning combination!

 My Maybelline shopper bag

I love the black and white image on the bag, a woman’s face with only her lipstick and Maybelline logo in bold red.

Lucky for us, Maybelline is offering this fab shopper bag when you purchase 3 items for 2.  This offer ends on 2nd August 2011 so what are you waiting for – go and get yours!
