Wossy Tweets Me He's NOT Moving to US!

 Wossy

Since Jonathan Ross revealed he was leaving the BBC the rumours surfaced he was moving to America.  I have heard so much gossip on the Internet, magazines, forums but of course unless its confirmed then you have to take it as what it is - RUMOURS!

Today, on my lunchbreak at work, I was reading a trashy magazine (I'm too ashamed to say which one!) which stated once again that Wossy was moving to the US.

I am one of his biggest fans. I love his show Friday Night With Jonathan...particularly all his A* list celebrity guests. Best of all, I like the way he interviews his guests, I don't find him biased (unlike some!) and most of all I love his humour. I know not everyone shares my liking for Wossy since it was reported he is paid £6 million a year and especially since the controversy with Russell Brand last year...

But oh well! I like the dude he makes me laugh and that's good enough for me!  So you can imagine my annoyance when I flicked through my magazine to find yet ANOTHER "story" claiming he was moving abroad.   NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I thought. He can't leave the UK for US (no disrespect to all my fellow Americans but its like Jay Leno or Letterman moving to UK...exactly!)  So I did what any other person would do...I tweeted! (See below)

Doyounoah "If @Wossy goes 2the US..omg I think I wud shed a tear"

You always hear about celebrities never replying back to your tweets so even though I included him in it, I didn't ever believe he would respond.

Yet a few minutes later I got this:-

RT @Wossy: "@doyounoah Aw thanks. i'm not going anywhere in the near future!"

So there you have it bloggers - my answer not in a magazine or on some trashy gossip website but right from the horse's mouth himself! :-)

SAG Awards

 Kate Hudson bringing "Sexy Back"...

Everyone's talking about Kate Hudson's dress she wore to the 16th annual Screen Actors Guild awards on Sunday night - and for once all that hype was true. The dress by Emilio Pucci was a white backless number and flattered her perfectly, concealing her worst area (non-existent breasts) and exposed her more flattering feature (trim back).

Blue was the favourite colour with several stars particularly  Bullock and Barrymore. I'm not too keen on Drew's dress.  Designed by Monique Lhullier, the colour was beautiful but the actual design wasn't so nice. I did, on the otherhand, really like the detail on Sandra's dress designed by Alexander McQueen, but again nothing AMAZING.

Babes in Blue, Drew Barrymore & Sandra Bullock

Another favourite of mine was Marion Cotillard's dress by Elie Saab.  She (or better yet, her stylist) picked the colour to be seen in this season, white.  I really like the asymmetrical detail.  To be honest, when you're that georgous you can get away wearing anything!

Is this REALLY fashion?

Amber Rose & Kanye at Mens Paris Fashionweek

Fashion or fashion faux pas? I have tried  so many times to defend Amber Rose's choice of outfits but there comes a time when you have to see things for what they really are..

A HOT MESS!

Take this outfit she chose to wear to Men's Fashion Week in Paris yesterday. Is this not the same attire a lady of the night would be seen wearing? Or perhaps even THEY wouldn't be seen dead in, for it might even be too SLEAZY for them!
I don't care if frigging Anna Wintour is telling you to wear this whorish outfit.  There are some things you DO NOT WEAR!

The dress (if we could call it that) is totally gross and worst of all hides Amber's best asset: the shape of her body, which looks tons better in dresses. (See below)

Doesn't she look lovely here?

Every lady knows about the "legs out or breasts out" rule. It's either one or the other, as having both on show makes even the most classy woman look trashy.

Obviously, Amber didn't get that fashion rule as girlfriend decides to wear a shredded black dress over a nude bodysuit.  In fact, recently Amber's dress sense has completely gone off the radar. She's fast returning to her stripper days of showing all. Honey, didn't you know less is more??

Oh well, maybe she'll get it right next time...here's hoping!

Victoria Beckham Wears *Shock Horror* FLATS?!?!

Yes! Victoria is actually in FLATS

Victoria Beckham in flats? That's the biggest oxymoron like EVER right? WRONG!

The lady who claimed she would NEVER be seen dead in flat shoes has, yes, been spotted in ballet pumps.  According to "sources" close to the celebrity, it's because Vicky has a severe bunion problem. Most probably caused by wearing 5inch heels everyday of her life, instead of the more practical option of ballet pumps.  You know, shoes that normal people wear?

Posh Spice is usually seen high heels

Remember, this is the woman who proudly turned her nose up at ballet pumps.  In an interview Victoria said, "Unless they're on a ballet dancer doing ballet, I just don't get it."

What I don't "get" is celebrities who blatently lie through their fake Hollyweird teeth for the purpose of not wanting to appear like us mere mortals, and then get exposed.

Vicky, love, there is nothing wrong with wearing ballet pumps. There practical, cute and most of all comfortable unlike those 5inch heels.  Who are you trying to kid?

There is, on the other hand, something wrong with demoralising those who do wear ballet pumps, and then having the absolute CHEEK to wear them yourself.  How about taking your own fashion advice darling and leaving it to ballet dancers and normal people instead?

Venus Shows Us A Full Moon

Flesh coloured underwear - YAY or NAY???

I woke up today with images of Venus Williams' arse all over the internet. Loads of online news websites  and even twitter were going crazy claiming that Venus was mooning the tennis crowd at the Australian Open yesterday- like seriously?! Has no one ever HEARD of flesh coloured underwear?!?

Venus on court wearing THOSE knickers

Venus said, "I am wearing undershorts the same colour as my skin, so it gives the slits in my dress the full effect! The whole idea is just about the illusion  so that the shorts  were like the same colour as my skin. It works very well, apparently."

The Williams sisters are known for their pushing the limits with their tennis outfits on the court.  Who remembers Serena's all in one tennis outfit? FIERCE! If I was a tennis star that is exactly the kind of get-up I would be wearing on centre court ;-)

Serena and THAT catsuit

Personally, I think Venus skin coloured underwear is not to my, er, taste.  In fact ANYTHING skin-coloured including tights, bodysuits etc is just gross full stop. But hey, each to their own!

What do YOU think??

Media Work Experience/Internships

 Looking for an Internship?

Are you looking for work experience or internships in the media? Magazines, newspapers, radio, television or PR?

I already help loads of my friends look for internships so I've decided every week to post jobs I find on my blog! Yep, I want to help you!

Internships and work experience aren't just for people in university, it can be for anyone wanting to build up their CV's or portfolio with work experience within their chosen industry.   Anyone who has tried to get work experience will know how difficult it is securing a placement as it is VERY competitive, particularly if you want to work within the media industry.

If Betty can (just about!) cope then you have NOTHING to worry about ;-)

Having said that, there is a plus side. As we are experiencing the recession (yawn sooooo over it!) lots of  companies are making cut-backs and redundancies therefore allowing people like yourselves to be exploited to the max - by working for free!

Working for free sucks - there is no other way of putting it! But if there's one thing I've learnt, is that the experience gained greatly outweights the negative.  If you get to work in the company of your dreams, take the opportunity and grab it with both hands!

This image made me giggle - i cant promise you WONT be making tea! lol it's all part of the experience!

When I was at University I found all my work experience and internships on my own which at times was so exhausting - having to contact so many companies with so little response was so time consuming. I wished someone had thought of my idea of a blog helping others find internships!

Constantly being rejected didn't do much for my confidence :-( but in the end I managed to secure some of the best internships ever ...

(and more!) by being consistent, determined and most of all ENTHUSIASTIC. :-)

I cannot stress how important this is when undertaking work experience.  Nobody likes to work with a miserable, ungrateful, and worst of all rude, person.  Least of all when working in stressful conditions.  As much as working in the media is fun and "cool" it can also be extremely busy, stressful and *shock horror* hardwork! Having to work for long hours with minimum pay or in worst cases only travel expenses is HARD.  But in the end soooooooo worth it!

It won't all be hardwork internships can be lots of fun too!

So I hope that my blog will be of help to you! Feel free to ask me any advice about CVs and covering letters. I won't write them for you, but can offer you advice and suggestions!

Will be posting jobs every Friday so make sure you check back whenever you can- good luck!

xoxo

Spice Girls - The Musical!

Spice Girls musical has been confirmed!

A stage production based on the Spice Girls and all their music is going ahead!

There have been so many rumours about a musical being made but no one has confirmed..until now!

Simon Fuller, who managed the Spice Girls, though not to be confused with Simon Cowell, announced the news today. The production will be created by the same producer who worked on Mamma Mia, so its going to be a good one!

Simon said, "What Judy has achieved with her the box office smash hit Mamma Mia and what the Spice Girls created with their powerful record-breaking mix of girl power and hit songs, has influenced pop culture more than anyone can imagine."

Judy Craymer said, "It is important to me that the excitement, style and humour of the Spice Girls is well represented on stage."

Well it's important to me that this musical goes ahead and becomes the success it ought to. Within the last few years musicals have become bigger and better and have crossed over from the stage to the big screen.

Do you think the story of the Spice Girls will be turned into a major movie next? If music mogul Simon Fuller has anything to do with it, then it's the next step...

I can't wait to get my tickets..I wonder if the audition process will be filmed..could you imagine if all 5 Spice Girls were judges deciding who should play them? Hilarious!

Victoria's Secrets Comes to London!!! ;-)

When I heard the news I almost screamed in delight! Victoria's Secrets, the US fashion and beauty giant, is planning to launch its stores in the UK.

YAY!!!!

Victoria's Secrets Models promoting make-up range

The International Managing Director, Martin Waters, said, "The UK is the fashion capital of Europe and would be a target for flagship Victoria's Secrets stores."

Rumours are that the label has been scouting the perfect locations to launch the new store such as Regent Street.

The brand is going from strength to strength with Heidi Klum recently presenting its annual Fashion Show in November. (See E! channel for replays of the show!)

VS have been around since 1977, so why hasn't this happened sooner?  Who knows...as long as I get to have Victoria Secrets in London then I'm a happy angel ;-)

Fashion at the Golden Globes

I Ryan Seacrest from E! coverage of award ceremonies!

Of course I was watching E! Online's live coverage with Ryan Seacrest, checking to see who was wearing what.

As usual there was the regulars sporting black dresses, Mariah, Jennifer Anniston and Halle Berry all wore black yet decided black doesn't have to be boring and upped their viva with a low cut neck line (Mariah) a daring thigh high split (Jennifer) and a bringing sexy back, a backless dress (Halle) - it definately wasn't the safe option which is what happens when celebs opt to wear LBD's so surprisingly these two were high on my favourite dresses on the night!

I also loved how the Hollywood stars embraced the nude coloured trend with pastel coloured dresses.  Chloe Sevigny's frilly chiffon Valention dress was definately my one of my faves, absolutely georgous! I also liked Drew Barrymore's nude one shouldered, Atelier Versace gown..really complimented her figure.  Also Emily Blunt's pastel Dolce & Gabbana strapless ruffle dress was also another pretty dress on the red carpet.

Let me know what outfits you loved...and hated! ;-)

Mo'nique Wins a Golden Globe!

 Mo'nique & Nicole Kidman

It was the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards last night hosted by Ricky Gervais.

The first award handed out was for Best Supported Actress, which deservedly was awarded to Mo'Nique, for her role in the movie Precious.

Monique is known to many as a comedian but in the film, "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire" you see her talents shine through as a tremedous actress.

She has been the solid favourite to win this award for her amazing portrayal of Mary Jones, a monstrous, abusive welfare mother who clashes with her daughter, Precious.

During her emotional and heartfelt acceptance speech, Mo'nique said: "I celebrate this award with allt he Preciouses, with all the Marys..I celebrate this award with every person that's ever been touched.  It's now time to tell."

Simon Quits American Idol...for X Factor!

Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol to start The X Factor in the US.

The music industry mogul will leave when his contract runs out, the end of the new season 9 which started this week.

It's been the most popular television show in America for the past five years and according to reports, even though Simon was offered "alot more money" to stay on at American Idol, he will actually make more with his own show, X Factor.

Simon set to make even more money with US X Factor

Unlike American Idol, owned by media company CKX,  Simon owns the rights to the X Factor format and will be the executive producer of the US version.

So who will take Simon's place as American Idol judge? Peter Rice, chairman of entertainment channel that broadcasts American Idol, Fox, refused to discuss a possible replacement. He said, "We have to take our time on that and make sure the chemistry of the judges is as good as it can be."

So who will Simon pick as a judge on the US version of X Factor? Rumours have been circulating that anyone from Cheryl Cole, Paula Abdul, Mel B and Kelly Rowland have been suggested.  Nothing has been confirmed, yet, but he did rule out Posh Spice who briefly joined the judging panel on American Idol last year.

Poor Victoria, doesn't look she'll be adding the role of "judge" to her ever expanding portfolio. She has been heavily criticised by several journalists for her looking "gaunt", being a "failure" and her "off-putting appearance".

Oh dear...you can't knock a girl for trying! Was she really that bad? Let me know what you think!

Earthquake puts Haiti In Crisis

Capital city of Haiti, Port-au-Prince, heavily affected

Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere ,has been hit with one of the most powerful earthquakes.

Port-au-Prince, capital of Haiti, has been badly hit by the earthquake 7.0-magnitude on the rictar scale.

Slums, homes, schools and hospitals have all been affected and UN's headquarters collapsed with up to 200 staff missing.

With communications destryoyed by the earthquake it's not possible to confirm the extent of the destruction though there are reports from journalists, images and some video footage showing many bodies piled in the streets...

A woman being rescued from the rubble

The Red Cross charity says up to three million people are affected and Haiti's Prime Minister, Jean-Max Bellerive told CNN he believed more than 100,000 people had died, and Guido Cornale a rep from Unicef, said it was estimated more than one-in-five buildings had been destroyed.

Estimated thousands of people injuried and affected by earthquake

Thankfully a number of nations, such as US, UK and Venezuela are all sending aid and President Obama vowed to provide "unwavering support" for Haiti for what he called, "cruel and incomprehensible" disaster.  Many celebrities are voicing their concerns on Twitter, particularly Haitian Wyclef Jean from the Fugees.  His tweets read, "Haiti needs your help..if your in the US donate 5 dollars will go toward earthquake relief in Haiti" and "Please urge your council men goveners etc..we need a state of emergency for Haiti."

The Haiti National Palace was destroyed along with many other buildings and homes...

The Red Cross is despatching a relief team, UN's World Food Programme is flying two planes with emergency food aid,the Inter-American Development Bank said it was donating $200,000 grant for emergency aid and the head of Internationalo Monetary Fund (IMF) said it would co-ordinate with other international agencies to offer help, support and donations as quickly as possible.

Haitians have limited medical support so civilisations help each other

Yet will this be enough? Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the western hempishere and has suffered poverty, political chaos and recently several natural  disasters including four hurricanes and storms in 2008 that killed hundreds of people.

I'm praying that Haiti can survive this devastation..if you would like to offer your support to Haiti see below!
